Four year sentence for hacking into women’s life

A Californian judge sentenced a 23-year old man yesterday to more than four years in state prison for searching women’s Facebook pages for clues enabling him to take over their email accounts.
Living with his parents in Sacramento, George Bronk began scanning Facebook in 2009 in order to get into women’s email accounts – and violate their cyberlife.
Once in there, he searched their files for compromising material such as nude pictures or videos and sent them to their contact list including family members, friends and co-workers.
Bronk pleaded guilty to charges including computer intrusion, false impersonation and possession of child pornography.
According to his attorney Monica Lynch, Bronk showed remorse for his actions. She had therefore sought a sentence of a maximum of two years in state prison without probation.
However, Sacramento County Superior court Judge Lawrence Brown sentenced him to four years in state prison in addition to eight months for possession of child pornography.
‘This case’, he said, ‘has very real consequences. The intrusion of one’s profile is no different than intruding one’s home.’
